Hungry Hungry Hippos
Acrylic on Recycled Cardboard
I normally don't share my rough sketches for my paintings, but I just thought it was funny and ironic that I drew this on an insurance letter haha. I have to note that I have been infatuated with the imagery of ghosts for as long as I can remember, but this particular style of ghost came from a good friend of mine, Shaun Kyle. I had asked him to do a painting for my daughter for her first christmas present, it involved some ghosts and he came up with this style. He has been a big influence in my life, if it weren't for him, I don't know if or when I would have ever started painting again. It had been several years (since I was in high school) that I quit painting. I wanted to start again but didn't have the confidence or motivation. Shawn asked me if I would like to sit in and watch as he painted, I accepted. It was just what I needed! I started back up and he would graciously come to my house to critique my work and give me different angles or ways to view what I was trying to portray. I would like to acknowledge his great influence in my spiritualness and art!
